Ski and Snowbaord Trips to Beidahu / Jilin

Beidahu / Jilin

Beidahu is located in the Province of Jilin and like Yabuli one of the oldest ski resorts in China and in 2007 the Asian Wintergames were held there. The resort was built in the late 90-ies and since then some upgrade have been implemented. There are around 500 vertical drop meters for 12 slopes mostly in the intermediate difficulty level with a total length of around 20 km. Epsecially on the right side the slopes are of decent length and there is one black slopes of advanced skiers, which can be considered the most difficult slope in China, especially as it's never groomed. The slope has around 400 vertical meters with an inclination of up to 37 degree (the slope is on the trail map on the top right corner). It's this slope where after one of the rare snowfalls powder enthusiast can get what they need, if they are lucky.

Beidahu has a 6-person cable car from POMA as well as 5 chairlifts, which are however relatively old and slow, which is on cold days a problem. In the lower left corner is a good area for beginners and apart form that Beidahu has a training center for the Chinese National Ski Team with Mogul slope, jumps for Skiflying and Airials as well as a Nordic Skiing track. The ski lodge is fairly large, but relatively old and has a 2-3* Hotel with around 100 rooms. Worth mentioning is the skibar in the lodge which is mostly run by Russian barmaids and where a selection of cocktails can be found. Next to the ski lodge is a newly built 5* Hotels with room rates starting from RMB 1500 per night.Temperatures range from "comfortable" (-15 to -20 C) over "chilly" (-20 to -30 C) to "unbearable" (-35C and colder), not considered the wind chill factor. Only in March temperatures slowly get comfortable.

To get to Beidahu you need to either take train or flight to Jilin and then drive for 2 hours to the resort.
