We go to visit the village of Walabi, about 1 hour from Lugu Lake. This is a very traditional Mosuo village, where you will have the chance to live with Mosuo families in their homes. Mosuo homes are large, two-story log structures, each having a large open central courtyard, surrounded on all four sides by living, cooking, and stabling areas. During the day, you will have the opportunity to explore the village, or perhaps go trekking in the surrounding mountains. There are also natural hot springs close to Walabi, where you can go to soak and have a bath.

For those interested in some of the work being done to preserve the Mosuo culture, you can visit some of the local projects (schools, training centers, traditional arts, etc.). Local guides will explain the culture, and the daily life. All meals will be traditional Mosuo meals in their homes, hand-cooked over wood fires. In the evening, there will be an opportunity for you to learn how to do traditional Mosuo dances, and perhaps try on some of the local Mosuo clothing.
