The Hutongs are traditional courtyard-style residences. Although most of these picturesque streets have been destroyed and replaced by modern buildings in Beijing, the Hutongs are protected and preserved within the 2nd ring road and we will discover this area by bike. The tour will take us along the Forbidden City to Chairman Mao's former residence and an antiques market. Later we head to the imperial Lake Houhai for a home-made lunch in a traditional family courtyard. In the afternoon we bike to the Drum and Bell Towers and discover the alleyways.
